They’re slated to take part in the pre-game show, along with John Legend. Also, Faith Hill will sing “America the Beautiful” while Jennifer Hudson is on deck to sing the national anthem. Working towards the weekend and Superbowl 43! The Pittsburgh Steelers taking on the Arizona Cardinals in Florida this Sunday. Pregame getting underway at noon, kickoff at 6pm on NBC. Who will you be routing for?

According to a new Rasmussen Reports survey, 55-percent of those intending to watch the game say they believe the Steelers have the edge, while only 37-percent predict the Cardinals will take the championship. Sunday will mark the seventh Super Bowl appearance for the Steelers, while it’s the first time the Cardinals have made it to the championship game.
IS JOAQUIN PHOENIX CAREER SWITCH A HOAX?
Joaquin Phoenix’s puzzling career switch from actor to rapper may just be an elaborate hoax. A source told EW.com’s Hollywood Insider blog that Phoenix’s brother-in-law Casey Affleck hatched the scheme and is filming his media appearances and performances for a documentary that pokes fun at pompous actors and the media. Despite these rumors, his rep tells “MTV News” that the musical path is no joke. The spokesperson notes that Joaquin comes from a musical family, adding, quote, “He intends on exploring his musical interests despite speculative, negative or positive reactions.”
Also in other rumor news, I mentioned yesterday that Donny Osmond would be a contestant on the next season of Dancing with the Stars…. well today he is clarifying those reports. He told “Entertainment Tonight,” that he is definitely not doing this upcoming season.” But he added that he’d love to take part in the show in the fall if he gets an offer. “People” had reported that he was taping the syndicated “Bonnie Hunt Show” recently when he said he was seriously thinking about appearing on “Dancing With the Stars.” He then said, quote, “I guess I just let the cat of the bag.”

Not overdone, but definitely powerful.”

INKHEART (PG)
Brendan Fraser plays Mo Folchart — a father who possesses a secret ability to bring characters from books to life when he reads them aloud. But when Mo accidentally brings a power-hungry villain from a rare children’s fable to life, the villain kidnaps his daughter and demands Mo bring other evil fictional characters to life. UNDERWORLD: RISE OF THE LYCANS (R)

A young Lycan named Lucian (Michael Sheen), emerges as a powerful leader who rallies the werewolves to rise up against Viktor (Bill Nighy), the cruel vampire king who has persecuted them for hundreds of years. Lucian is joined by his secret lover, the beautiful vampire Sonja (Rhona Mitra), in his battle to free the Lycans from their brutal enslavement. Starring Michael Sheen, Bill Nighy and Rhona Mitra. This is the third Underworld film to be made and the first without Kate Beckinsale.
Also “The Dark Knight” is set to light up the movie box office again after it earned eight Academy Award nominations, including one for Heath Ledger! It will be re-released to 255 theaters across the U.S. and Canada this weekend, including 142 IMAX theaters.
SAG AWARDS ON SUNDAY
The Screen Actors Guild is rolling out the red carpet for its own this weekend at the 15th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. Recognizing the best in television and film, the Screen Actors Guild Awards are the only industry accolades devoted solely to actors honoring actors. The Catholic School drama “Doubt” leads the list of contenders in the film categories with five nominations, including Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture and individual acting nods for Meryl Streep, Viola Davis, Amy Adams and Philip Seymour Hoffman — all of whom landed Oscar nominations this week for their work in the film. The Harvey Milk biopic “Milk,” starring Sean Penn, and the Brad Pitt-starrer “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” are vying for three SAG Awards each. The 15th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be presented this Sunday. TNT and TBS will simulcast the star-studded ceremony live from the Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles starting at 8:00 pm.
“MARRIED WITH CHILDREN” CAST REUNITES FOR WEBISODE
Fans of the long-running FOX television sitcom “Married with Children” will be able to catch up with the Al, Peg, Kelly and Bud Bundy but it will not be on traditional television. Actor David Faustino, who played Bud Bundy, says his television family will reunite on the Internet for the first time since the series went off the air after its eleven-season run. Faustino is involved in a new project on the Internet at Crackle.com, a new site from Sony Pictures Television Entertainment. His “Star-ving” webisodes are loosely based on his life following his successful run as Bud Bundy as a 34-year-old poor, out-of-work child-actor, who is looking to make a comeback in show business. Faustino says the series is an exaggerated look at his life adding that in the first few episodes, the web site has scored more than one-million-hits. New episodes of “Star-ving” are posted at www.Crackle.com every Friday.
TUNA CALCULATOR CREATED
In the wake of Jeremy Piven’s “mercury-poisoning-caused-by-eating-too-much-fish” scandal, Sean Gray, senior analyst at the Environmental Working Group (EWG) spoke about how much fish it’s healthy to consume. He said, “The appropriate amount depends on the kind of fish you’re eating and on the person’s weight.” That’s why the EWG created a tuna calculator on their Web site to help people find out exactly how much mercury they can eat each week without exceeding a safe exposure level. CHILDREN’S LIVES DOMINATED BY TECHNOLOGY
Do you find this to be true? A new surveys out revealing that children are shunning books and outdoor games to spend up to six hours a day in front of a screen. The market research involving 1,800 children aged five to 16 found that they spend an average of 2.7 hours a day watching TV, 1.5 on the internet and 1.3 playing on games consoles, although in some cases these activities are simultaneous, such as watching TV while playing on a console. The trend triggered warnings that the next generation will struggle to compete in the adult world because they lack reading and writing skills.

Happy Martin Luther King Day!! Some enjoying a nice long weekend thanks to the holiday and some enjoying an even longer weekend to catch Inauguration of Barack Obama tomorrow.
If you weren’t able to tune into the big kick off celebration, We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial, last night here’s how it played out:
Following an introduction from Denzel Washington, Bruce Springsteen launched the music with his post-September 11th song of inspiration, “The Rising.” John Mellencamp contributed “Pink Houses” while James Taylor teamed up with R&B star John Legend and country singer Jennifer Nettles for his hit “Shower the People” and Stevie Wonder joined Usher and Shakira for his hit “Higher Ground”. Folk legend Pete Seeger joined Springsteen to lead a rendition of the classic “This Land Is Your Land” before Beyonce closed the ceremony singing “America the Beautiful.” Hollywood stars including Tom Hanks, Jamie Foxx, Steve Carell, and Marisa Tomei provided historical references and introduced video clips of inspirational speeches from past presidents. In addition, both Vice President-elect Joe Biden and Obama stepped to the podium to address the crowd. What a show!!
THIS WEEKEND’S TOP TEN MOVIES
1. Paul Blart: Mall Cop, $33.8 million
2. Gran Torino, $22.2 million
3. My Bloody Valentine 3-D, $21.9 million
4. Notorious, $21.5 million
5. Hotel for Dogs, $17.7 million
6. Bride Wars, $11.75 million
7. The Unborn, $9.8 million
8. Defiance, $9.2 million
9. Marley & Me, $6.3 million
10. Slumdog Millionaire, $5.9 million
I got a chance to see Defiance over the weekend at Fall Creek Pictures in Ithaca. I truly enjoyed it, as much as a movie about Nazi Germany and the genocide of the Jewish people can be enjoyed. I’ve seen numerous movies about the Holocaust, but this was a new side of the story I’ve never seen before. About the jewish families who fled from their villages into the surrounding forrests and made camp and on occassion attacked German outposts. It had an almost Robin Hood feel to it. Great movie!!
JOAQUIN PHOENIX RESURFACES AS A RAPPER!!
Joaquin Phoenix announced late last year that he was retiring from acting, to work on his music. Well he made his public debut Friday, as a rapper! He took to the stage at the Las Vegas nightclub LAVO, performing three songs from his upcoming new album. He told People.com that while he enjoyed punk rock music when he was younger, he soon discovered his love for the “storytelling aspect of hip-hop.” The crowd at LAVO was very receptive of his rap, even cheering him on after his performance. His brother-in-law, actor Casey Affleck, was among those in the crowd filming the performance for a documentary. No word on when Phoenix’s album is expected to surface.
